Doris “Jane” Miller, 92, Wynwood House, State College, formerly of Franklinville, passed away Thursday at Mount Nittany Medical Center. She was born in Sinking Valley, daughter of Edward Brooks and Ruth Naomi (Soyster) Carper. She was the seventh of nine children.
On Oct. 17, 1954, she married Calvin “Cal” Wade Miller Sr. at Warriors Mark Methodist Church. He preceded her in death Jan. 25, 2020.
She is survived by her children: Caryl Jane (Brad) Fisher of State College, Calvin “Spike” Wade Miller Jr. (Katy Jo) of Tyrone and John Edward Miller of Baltimore, Md.; a granddaughter, Cheri (Russie) Walk of Tyrone; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Joan (Joanne) Jones of York.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Calvin “Rocky” Wade Miller III; and her siblings: Marian, Robert, Betty, Earl, Gilbert, Donna and Ebenezer.
She graduated from Warriors Mark-Franklin High School in 1951 and worked at Penn State after graduation. She then joined Cal, who was stationed at the Corpus Christi Naval Air Base in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was a stay-at-home mom until 1972 and then began working at Murata Erie Technologies until her retirement. She was a member of Warriors Mark Methodist Church and attended Spruce Creek Methodist Church.
The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff at Wynwood House of State College for the care and compassion that was shown to Jane during the last years of her life. “Thank you,” does not begin to express their gratitude.
Friends will be received from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2025, at Bruce E. Cox Funeral Home, 3784 Warriors Mark Path, Warriors Mark, Pastor Becky Ivory officiating. Interment will follow in Burket Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Spruce Creek Methodist Church, 4938 Spruce Creek Road, Spruce Creek, PA 16683.
