Darrel D. Cadle, 93, of Altoona, passed away Tuesday morning. He was born in Altoona, the son of the late Josiah Duane and A. Ethel (Focht) Cadle.
He married Constance Y. Rankin on Nov. 10, 1950. She preceded him in death on Sept. 4, 2001.
Mr. Cadle was a retired business owner, having engaged in the sales and service of pianos and organs for 42 years.
He was a member of the Piano Technicians Guild, having served as president and treasurer of the Central PA Chapter of PTG, also as chairman of the PA State Conference of PTG.
Mr. Cadle was active as a trombonist in several area dance bands, a longtime member of the Altoona and Johnstown Symphony Orchestras, the James L. Noble Post #3 Band, Jaffa Temple Band and the Hollidaysburg Community Band.
He was a former member of the Altoona Symphony Board of Directors. He was a member of Hiram Lodge #616, F&A Masons, Valley of Altoona AASR 32˚ and Jaffa Shrine, where he was active in Band, Jaffa Roadrunners and Jaffa Ambassadors.
He was a 1950 graduate of Altoona High School and a member of the Alumni Association.
Mr. Cadle is survived by two sons, Douglas Cadle (Karyn) of Lancaster and James Cadle (Wendi) of Fayetteville, Ark.; four daughters: Rebecca Carter (Dennis) of Fairfield, Deborah Little (Tim), Susan Miller (Dave) and Alyssa Neil (Brian), all of Altoona. He had 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren, with another on the way.
He was preceded in death by a longtime companion, Dolores Snyder.
Friends will be received from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, 2025, at E. Merrill Smith Funeral Home, 2309 Broad Ave., Altoona. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery.
