Bertha "Jean" Roccio, 94, Altoona, resident of Garvey Manor Nursing Home, Hollidaysburg, died peacefully on Sunday surrounded by her loving daughters. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Paul and Jennie Mae (Moore) Morrison.
She is survived by her five daughters: Deborah Anderson (Patrick), Mary Welsh (Robert), Roxanne Ernest, Tammy Bowers (Stephen), all of Altoona, and Melissa Winter (Curtis) of Denver, N.C.; grandchildren: Michele Snyder, Denielle Halerz (Mark), Jennifer Boyles (Richard), Aric Anderson (Justine), Alicia Walter (Ricky), Courtney Winters (Eric), Matthew Bowers (Mychelle), Matt Winter (Alyson), Alisha Hayes (James) and Brock Bowers (Carla); 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and her goddaughter, Patricia Brumbaugh of Altoona.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Roccio; her sister, Helen Mae Wears; and a grandson.
Jean worked for Sylvania, Blair Senior Services as a caretaker and Boyer Candy. She was a very devoted mother and enjoyed spending time with her family. She also enjoyed shopping, family gatherings, her pets, drinking coffee and indulging in chocolate. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Garvey Manor, especially Unit E1 caregivers, for the exceptional care of our mother.
Family and friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, 2025, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., 719 N. Fourth Ave., Altoona, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 1 p.m. Interment will be made at Grandview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Garvey Manor, 1037 S. Logan Blvd., Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
