Barbara J. Snider

March 2, 1937 – Nov. 30, 2025

Barbara J. Snider, 98, of Port Matilda, passed away peacefully on Sunday. Born in Philipsburg, she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Eleanor (Lane) Beckwith.

In Fort Dix, N.J., she married Mort J. Snider, who preceded her in death in 1994.

Barbara is survived by two sons, Mort (Linda) Snider and Michael (Trang) Snider; two grandchildren: Benjamin and Jasmine Snider; three stepgrandchildren: Bree Fogleman, Kristin Johnston and Andrea Gurekovich; and eight step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Leroy Beckwith II. Barbara was the last of her immediate family.

A 1954 graduate of Tyrone High School, Barbara went on to graduate from the Philipsburg School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse, drove a school bus and owned the Wagon Wheel Restaurant in Port Matilda.

Barbara was a member of The Hannah Church and the Red Hats. She enjoyed auctions, traveling, camping and attending the Grange Fair.

Barbara was a founding member of Tyrone Youth Football and dedicated many years to transporting football, wrestling and track teams to away games and meets. She was affectionately known as "Mom" by countless athletes who rode her bus.

Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, 2025, at Feller Memorial Home; and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Monday, Dec. 8, 2025, at The Hannah Church, with Pastor Bo King officiating.

Private inurnment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Feller Memorial Home, Tyrone.
