William ‘Bill’ Balestino

He was born in Altoona, son of the late William J. and Mary (Spagnoli) Balestino. On May 3, 1969, he married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Loibl.

Surviving are his loving wife, Trish; his daughters, Erica Balestino (Joseph) Drozinski of Pittsburgh and Andrea (Michael) Edleblute of Charlotte, N.C.; his beloved granddaughters, Brecken and Jordan Edleblute; two sisters, Nancy (Wayne) Bodden and Linda Butterbaugh; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Bill was a 1967 graduate of Altoona Area High School and soon after enlisted in the U. S. Air Force, where he honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. His commitment to service continued with two additional years in the U. S. Army Reserves. After his military service, Bill dedicated 36 years to the Conrail-Norfolk Southern Railroad, Altoona.

After retirement, he and Trish moved to Pittsburgh to be with their family. They also spent many winters with close friends in St. Augustine, Fla. He was a lifelong Pittsburgh sports fan, especially the Pirates, no matter how badly they played.

Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, 2025, at Santella Funeral Home. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
