Thomas Charles Detwiler Sr., 78, of Hollidaysburg, passed away Friday, Nov. 21, 2025, at UPMC Altoona Hospital. He was born Jan. 20, 1947, in Hollidaysburg, son of the late Charles and Minerva (Ellenberger) Detwiler. On Feb. 28, 1987, he was united in marriage to the former Diane (Garman) Detwiler.

Along with his wife of 38 years, he is survived by children: Thomas “Jake” Detwiler Jr., Rhonda Watchey (John), Patrick Detwiler, Chad Detwiler (Lindsay) and Lindsey Plowman (Justin); 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Thomas was a graduate of Hollidaysburg High School.

He worked as a telecommunications splicer for Bell Telephone and took real pride in doing every job just right. His family lovingly called him a perfectionist, and he wore that title well. He was a proud NRA member, a natural jokester and loved hunting and target shooting. Tom was a true jack-of-all-trades, with extensive knowledge on a wide variety of subjects. Most of all, he loved his family, and they’ll forever remember his quick humor, colorful vocabulary and stories of humorous life encounters and choices he made throughout the years.

Friends and family will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2025, at The Good Funeral Home, Inc., 108 Alto Reste Park, Altoona. Burial will be held privately at Alto-Reste Park.
