Theresa A. Merilli, 89, of Altoona, passed away Friday at UPMC Altoona. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Bart and Katherine "Kitty" (Cella) Tartaglio.
Theresa married Robert J. Merilli on March 2, 1957, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on May 15, 2025.
She is survived by her two sons, Philip G. Merilli (Lola) of Wexford and Michael G. Merilli of Sedona, Ariz.; three grandchildren: Kyla T. Merilli Moehring (Ben), Danielle C. Merilli Capezzi (James) and Shelby J. Merilli White (Brian); and her three great-grandchildren: Gunnar, Arlen and Evelyn Capezzi.
Theresa was preceded in death by a daughter, Katherine A. Merilli Wagner.
She was a graduate of Altoona Catholic High School and the Altoona School of Commerce.
Theresa was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and enjoyed being an active part of the Grand Palazzo community.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 806 11th St., Altoona.
Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
Arrangements are by The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona.
