Ronald J. Cooney, 65, of Altoona, passed away Nov. 4, 2025. He was born in Altoona, a son of Shirley M. (Leighty) and the late William B. Cooney.
He married Theresa M. Frederick, who preceded him in death in 2024 after sharing 43 years of marriage.
Surviving are his mother, Shirley, of Altoona; a sister, Lynn Stewart; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers, David and Bill.
Ron was a 1979 graduate of Altoona Area High School and worked for Longstreth Brothers Painting.
He enjoyed coin collecting, the outdoors and bonfires.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025, at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a memorial service will immediately follow at 3 p.m.
