Robin D. “Rob” Harkins, 72, of Altoona, died peacefully on Nov. 23, 2025, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Glenn L. and Helen L. (Rigas) Fagan.
On July 19, 2008, he married Teri K. Antesberger in Altoona.
Surviving are his wife, Teri, of Altoona; three children: a daughter, Lori Rimbeck (Dave) of Duncansville; a son, Robin Harkins (Hailey) of Hollidaysburg; and a daughter, Melissa Nedimyer (Vince) of Altoona; seven grandchildren: Owen Rimbeck of Duncansville, Gavin Harkins, Vince Nedimyer, Joey Nedimyer, Leah Nedimyer, Amari Hartsfield and Nasir Hartsfield, all of Altoona; two stepchildren, Kylee Antesberger and partner, Shaun Hartsfield, and Ian Antesberger and partner, Shauna Witherow, both of Altoona; a brother, Glenn Fagan of Altoona; a sister, Mary Ann Acey of Douglasville; and his mother-in-law, Marjorie Krise of Altoona.
He was a 1971 graduate of Altoona Area High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam era. He worked for Penn Central Railroad, Conrail and finally Norfolk Southern, holding various supervisory positions throughout his 40-year career. He retired in 2014 from Norfolk Southern as a senior general foreman and superintendent. He was a member of Hollidaysburg Lodge, #220 Free and Accepted Masons and a Noble of the Jaffa Shrine, where he was honored to serve as Potentate in 2020. He was a member and Past Captain of the Jaffa Shrine Patrol/Director’s Staff and a member of the Jaffa Shrine Legion of Honor, Jaffa Shrine Kiddies Christmas Club and Cove Shrine Club, an honorary member of the Jaffa Shrine Clown Unit, a member of Colotic Miztli #91, Order of Quetzalcoatl, Altoona Court #70, Royal Order of Jesters, Cumberland Claw #8, Benevolent Order of Crabs, Mountain Chapter #564, National Sojourners and Chief Logan Forest #131, Tall Cedars of Lebanon. He was also a life member of the Newburg Fire Company, a life member of the Bavarian Aid Society and a social member of the Cesare Battisti Club.
Rob enjoyed hunting, singing karaoke, working around his home and playing golf with his friends.
Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, 2025, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, where a Masonic funeral service will be held at 7 p.m., and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 408 N. Sixth St., Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., the Revs. Eli Hess and Richard Henry co-officiating, with full military honors following the service.
Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in memory of Rob please be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, Philadelphia, or to Jaffa Shrine Center, both in care of Jaffa Shrine, 2200 Broad Ave., Altoona, PA 16601.
