Rita J. Smaltz, 94, of Willow Street, passed away Saturday. She was born in Covington, Va., daughter of the late Benjamin and Ethel (Sauers) Treese.
She was the wife of the late John Allen Smaltz, who passed away in 2012.
She was a homemaker for most of her life.
Rita enjoyed playing card and board games, knitting, sewing, doing crafts and needle pointing. She was also a huge cat lover and enjoyed watching her soap operas on TV.
She is survived by her son, Jay A. Smaltz of Denver, Pa.; and daughter, Amy J. Knaus of Willow Street. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Joshua, Patrick (Jackson), Sarah, Rachel and Abigail (Caleb); and nephew, James Smaltz, husband of Chrissy, of Coatesville.
She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Roberta Smaltz, who was beloved by the whole family.
Private inurnment will be held at Laurel Cemetery, White Haven, at the convenience of the family.
