Aug. 10. 1949 – Nov. 24, 2025

Ciaverella

Pete C. Ciaverella Jr., 76, Altoona, passed away Monday at his home, with his daughter by his side. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Pete C. Sr. and Miriam (Civils) Ciaverella.

He later married the love of his life, Marlene Schmid, who preceded him in death in December 2024.

He is survived by a daughter, Gina (Tim) Clossin; a son, Pete (Kelly) Ciaverella; three grandchildren: Carley Eisel, Brianna and Timothy “TC” Clossin Jr.; a great-granddaughter, Audrey Eisel; three brothers: Clair (Deb), Larry (Mary) and Marty (Cindy) Ciaverella; a brother-in-law, Michael (Jacqui) Schmid; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pete was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary K. Lightner and Annette McClain.

Pete was a 1967 graduate of Altoona Area High School.

After high school, he joined the United States Air Force, earning several distinctive medals, including the National Defense Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with a Bronze Service Star, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal.

He was a “jack of all trades” kind of guy, working various jobs throughout his lifetime. He last worked as the account manager for Blair County Community Action.

Pete will always be remembered for the times he spent dancing with Marlene, time spent with his family and his hunting and camping trips with his brothers. He also enjoyed going to fairs with Marlene, playing board games at home and playing chess with his granddaughter, Brianna.

A natural jokester, he will always be remembered for his corny jokes.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at noon Monday, Dec. 1, 2025, at Santella Funeral Home. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
