Omer H. "Blackie" Black, 97, Saxton, died Wednesday. He was the son of the late Forest and Nora (Levelle) Black. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; his daughter, Eugennie Treece; and his siblings. Surviving are his children: Omer Jr., Jodi Crooks and Brad Black; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Omer served in the U.S. Army from 1946-47 as a Corporal. He enjoyed boating, hunting and fishing -- which he did up to his 96th birthday. Omer retired as superintendent of lines for Bedford County in 1986. Services will be private. Arrangements are by Akers Funeral Chapel, Saxton.
