Lena A. "Nuch" Pellegrino, 88, of Altoona, died Nov. 6, 2025, at her residence. She was born in Altoona, a daughter of the late Francesco and Elizabeth (Parzanese) Pellegrino.
Surviving are two children: son, Ronald "Gene" Merritts (Yvonne) of Altoona; and daughter, Janet L. Merritts of Hollidaysburg; four grandchildren: Douglas Merritts (Kim), Christopher Durbin, Gina Ross (Jack) and Bridgette White (Joshua); three great-grandchildren: Christopher Durbin Jr., Kurt Durbin and Jackson Ross; a brother, John Pellegrino; numerous nieces and nephews, including: Anthony Pellegrino, Frederick Rickabaugh, John Verilla, Darren Pellegrino, Lori Bollinger and Mollie Baker.
Lena was preceded in death by sister, Ann Belin (Lewis); sister, Angeline Verilla (John); brother, Frank Pellegrino (Carol); brother, Anthony Pellegrino; sister-in-law, Mary Jo Stacey; sister-in-law, Sharron Pellegrino; half-brother, Alex Moretto; half-sister, Minnie O'Grattis; half-sister, Lilly Bonetti; nephew, Lewis Belin Jr.; niece, Janet Rickabaugh; niece, Theresa Rickabaugh-Givens; and niece, Dolletta "Dolly" Basom.
She was a 1955 graduate of Altoona High School and retired following 39 years' total service as a bookkeeper for various local companies.
Lena enjoyed playing bingo and dancing.
She was a member of the VA Hospital Employee Association, where she volunteered for 17 years.

A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be made at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
Arrangements are by Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona.
