James W. Rightenour

Dec. 21, 1963 – Nov. 13, 2025

James W. Rightenour, 61, of Altoona, passed away Thursday at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late Elvin and Icy Regina (Longenecker) Rightenour.

James was a Class of 1981 graduate of Northern Bedford County High School and later attended welding trade school.

He was a master carpenter/construction worker, completing numerous projects in and around Altoona throughout the years.

James enjoyed NASCAR, Steelers Football and wrestling.

He was a member of the 18th Street Community Church and felt great joy while driving a student school van for Student Transportation of America.

James was preceded in death by his siblings: Merle, Sarah, John, Glenn, Barry and Eleanor.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara Leskie; stepchildren: Christopher, Cammie, Cattie and Casey; four special buddies: Keegan, Kasen, Kobey and Milo; a brother, Willis Rightenour (Rheda) of Claysburg; a sister, Fern Dick (James, deceased) of Duncansville; a brother, Robert Rightenour of Mount Union; a sister, Nettie Mooney of Hollidaysburg; a brother, George Rightenour (Patty) of Altoona; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, 2025, at Fink & Stone Funeral Home, Woodbury; and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2025, at the funeral home, with Pastor Nate Germany officiating. Interment will be at Diehl's Crossroads Cemetery, Martinsburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in James's name may be made to Student Transportation of America.
