Edward ‘Gwen’ Peterson

Edward “Gwen” Peterson, 87, of Coalport, passed away Saturday at the Presbyterian Village. Edward was a son of the late Clyde and Hazel (Barto) Peterson.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth (Niebauer) Peterson; and brothers, Richard G. (Janice) and Leroy F.
Edward is survived by his aunt, Gertrude; nephews, Mark (Donna) and Al (Vickie); nieces, KayLynn Stiver (Jeff) and Janet (Eugene) Shirley; great-nieces, Jillian Stiver and Angie (Seth) Westover; and great-nephew, Kyle Stiver.
Edward worked as a corrections officer at SCI Smithfield.
He was a member of St. Basil the Great Parish, Irvona Rod & Gun Club, Coalport Masonic Lodge 574, Jaffa Shrine in Altoona and Ancient Scottish Rite in Altoona. Edward was also an Irvona Volunteer Fire Company Chief.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2025, at Lloyd-Dimmick Funeral Home Inc., Irvona, where a Masonic service will be held at 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2025, at the funeral home, with Father Soloman officiating.
