Dennis R. Brown, 87, of Roaring Spring, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, Roaring Spring, after a brief illness. He was born in Martinsburg, a son of the late Herbert L. and Ethel L. (Holland) Brown.
On Dec. 24, 1964, he married Barbara Ann Anderson at United Methodist Church, LaVale, Md.
Surviving are his loving wife; a daughter, Lisa C. Hammaker (Scott) of Enola; and a son, James R. (Maureen) of Hollidaysburg; five grandchildren: Michael S. Albright, Brandon E. Albright (Maggie), Bryan A. Hammaker (Madison), Steven J. Brown and Megan V. Brown; as well as great-grandchildren: Logan C. Albright, Maddix D. Albright, Ava Albright, Brooklyn Albright, and Warren A. Waltz. Dennis is also survived by his siblings: C. William, Linda K. Smith (Terry L.) of Curryville and David L. in Alaska.
A brother, Herbert E., preceded him in death.
Dennis was a 1958 graduate of Morrisons Cove High School. He achieved Certification in Labor Negotiations at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
In 1999, he retired as President of United Steelworkers Local 12755 at Galliker’s and Johnstown Sanitary Dairy. In 2004, he retired with 25 years of service at Galliker Dairy Co. and from United Steelworkers Local 2635-09 at Galliker Dairy Co.
Dennis was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State football fan.
He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Martinsburg.
Dennis was an incredibly loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be missed by all who love him.
A private graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg, with Pastor Traci Marriott officiating.
