Alan L. Claar, 74, of Claysburg, passed away Monday at home. He was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late Ethamore and Mary (Feather) Claar.
He married Kathy Smith on Sept. 15, 1984, in Claysburg.
Surviving are his wife; daughters, Brittany Svitana (Sean) and Bethany Claar; grandchildren, Amelia and Eli; a sister, Elaine Smith (John); and his feline friends, George and Bebe.
Alan was a 1969 graduate of Claysburg-Kimmel High School and a graduate of Penn State University. He retired as parts manager at New Enterprise Stone and Lime Co. after many years of service.
He was a lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church, Claysburg, where he served for many years on the church council.
Alan was also a member of Iron Masters Country Club for more than 50 years. He served on the board of the country club and the Claysburg Union Cemetery Association.
He enjoyed playing golf and watching his grandchildren’s sporting events.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, 2025, at Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, at Christ Lutheran Church, Claysburg, with Pastor Gary Blankley officiating. Interment at Claysburg Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Claysburg Food Bank, P.O. Box 167, Claysburg, PA 16625.
