Thaddeus Thomas Kowalski, 80, of Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, died in the early hours of Oct. 15, 2025, at UPMC Altoona. Ted was born in Altoona, son of the late Chester J. and Helena (Tomchek) Kowalski.
Surviving are a brother, Paul (Emma) Kowalski; sister-in-law, Mary C. Kowalski; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews who referred to him lovingly as Uncle Buzzard.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Chester.
Ted was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Germany during the Vietnam era.
He worked as a machinist for Conrail after his time in the service.
Ted enjoyed riding motorcycles, walking in the woods, shooting muzzleloaders, target practice and woodworking. He also enjoyed attending the many family gatherings where good food and laughs were shared.
Ted was well known for his daily routine, making stops to check in with friends and family around town, and could always be relied on for a joke and a smile.
He was a former member of Ss. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church and a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Brotherhood, Riggle's Gap Rifle Club and Newburg Fire Hall.
Family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025, at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th St., Altoona, where funeral services outside of Mass will be held at 11 a.m. by Father Brad Baldwin TOR.
Inurnment at Ss. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Cemetery, Altoona.
