Robert W. "Bob" McKinney, 78, of Hollidaysburg, passed away peacefully on Wednesday at his home after an extended illness. He was the son of the late Robert L. and Dorothy (Godsey) McKinney.
On Nov. 2, 1968, he married the love of his life, Sally Ebersole, in Leamersville.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Sally; and their loving children, Heather McKinney Wiegering and her husband, Carlos, and Robert W. McKinney II. He was a proud grandfather to Nicolas C. "Nico" Wiegering; and stepgrandfather to Sarah Kinney. He is also survived by his sister, Arlene Grove and her husband, Dennis; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his sister, Rita Ratcliffe; and infant sister, Barbara Suzanne.
A proud graduate of Bladensburg High School, Class of 1965, Bob honorably served his country as an AE2 in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War era.
His pursuit of knowledge led him to Penn State University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He dedicated many decades of his career to Butterick Patterns in Information Systems.
Bob was a former member of The Foot of Ten Lions and a man of Protestant faith. He possessed a remarkable talent for technology and a passion for computers. He also enjoyed his years playing softball with friends from Butterick. Music was a significant part of his entire life; he was a skilled guitarist and drummer, even playing in a band throughout high school.
Bob found joy in simple pleasures throughout his life, whether it was watching TV, riding his Harley, solving Sudoku puzzles or listening to good music, especially his favorites, Elvis and The Beatles. Above all, he treasured moments spent with his family, especially his grandson, Nico.
Bob had a quick wit and was known for his unique sense of humor. He enjoyed a good laugh, people smiling and making jokes. Bob would have fully enjoyed the irony of his obituary being shared on 10-4. We can hear him laughing and saying, "10-4 over and out."
Friends and family are invited to a visitation from 10 a.m. until the service at noon Monday, Oct. 6, 2025, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., 108 Alto-Reste Park, Altoona. Pastor John Godissart will officiate, followed by military honors conducted by The Blair County Honor Guard.
