Phyllis Jean Lanier

Sept. 26, 1939 – Oct. 6, 2025

Phyllis Jean Lanier, 86, of Duncansville, passed away Monday after a short hospital stay, surrounded by her children. Phyllis was born at home in Puzzletown, the daughter of Alice Lee Wyles and Glenn Wyles of Duncansville.

She was married to John R. Clint Lanier Jr. on April 25, 1959, in Duncansville, until his death earlier this year on Jan. 28, 2025. They were married more than 65 years and were inseparable.

Surviving are her three children: Lorie Willow (Gene), Lisa Davensizer and Robert Lanier; three grandchildren: Morgan Davensizer, Adam Davensizer and Shawnee Graham; and four great-grandchildren: Kierstyn, Alexis, Kendall and Owen Lee.

Phyllis was the oldest of six siblings, of which two are surviving, Beverly Berkey and Kenneth Wyles. She also shared a very special bond with her cousin, Vickie Harder Bartley.

She enjoyed her family over the years and always looked forward to the annual family beach trip to Carolina Beach, N.C. She also enjoyed hobbies and activities, such as assembling complicated puzzles, family genealogy (which she had traced back to the 1400s) and cardinal bird collecting.

Phyllis loved animals and had a special love of horses, which she enjoyed for many years.

She will be best remembered for her kindness and selfless personality.

Phyllis had a calm and giving nature. She was a woman of few words but always sharp as a tack with an impeccable memory and worldwide knowledge.

Phyllis will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A celebration of Phyllis's life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are by Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg.
