Nancy (Valentine) Palko, 74, of Pavia, went home to be with our Lord and Savior, peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday. She was born in Minersville, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary "Monya" (Kosinski) Valentine.
She married Rodger J. Palko on March 6, 1971, in Patton, and they shared 54 years of love and happiness together.
Nancy graduated from Bishop Carroll High School in Ebensburg, with the Class of 1969, and later attended Saint Francis College. Soon after, she devoted herself to being a loving mother and homemaker. In 1992, she graduated from the Computer Learning Network, where she earned an associates degree. She later retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania after working at the Altoona Unemployment Office.
Nancy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose love and warmth touched everyone she met. She dedicated her life to family, creating a home filled with kindness, love and laughter. Her greatest joys came from spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and animals.
She is survived by her loving husband, Rodger Palko; sister, Lois Sgro; children: Brian Palko (fiancee, Corinne Fearer), Carrie (Terry) DeWitt and Rodger S. (Erin) Palko; grandchildren: Brian Palko, Hannah Palko, Alyssa Bruce, Geena Bruce (Josh Nadolsky), Tessa (David) Marrapode, Timothy Keefer, Scott Palko, Matthew Palko, Daniel Palko and Emily Palko; several great-grandchildren; and nephews, Michael and Andrew Sgro.
She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, John Sgro; and grandson, Vincent Palko.
Nancy was a born again Christian and a devoted member of Altoona Full Gospel Church. She was known for her generous heart, gentle spirit, her strong faith and unwavering devotion to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025, at Altoona Full Gospel Church, 120 Roswell St., Altoona, with Pastor Ron Campbell officiating. Interment will be private at St. Mary's Cemetery, Gallitzin.
Arrangements are by Gibbons-Houser Funeral Home Inc., Gallitzin.
