Mary C. Kirk, 90, Patton, passed away Sept. 29, 2025, at Haida Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Hastings, the daughter of Stanley and Anna (Schall) Bem.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ken B. Kirk; daughter, Karen Clapper; brother, John Bem; brother-in-law, James Eckenrode; and sister-in-law, Louise Bem.
Surviving are children: Don (Sally) Kirk of Patton, Michele Kirk, married to Joe Gelormino, of Patton and Dr. Kevin (Mary) Kirk of San Antonio, Texas; a son-in-law, Herb Clapper, of New Enterprise; grandchildren: Michael, Anna and Stephen Clapper, Emily (Michael) Nagle, Jonathan Kirk, Andrew Kirk and Leanne (Levy) Edgar; and siblings, Stanley Bem of Indiana, Pa., and Agnes Eckenrode of Altoona.
Mary was a graduate of Hastings Elder High and worked for Van Huesin Shirt Factory. She later stopped working and was the heart of her home. She took care of the family and enjoyed cooking, gardening and baking. She was employed later in life as a rectory cook and then retired as the Parish Hall cook at Queen of Peace Church.
She was a former member of Queen of Peace Church and CH Band Boosters and a current member of St. Bernards Church.
Family and friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, at Stevens Funeral Home Inc., 1004 Fifth Ave., Patton.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025, at St. Bernards Church, with Father Thaddeus Rettger OSB, Celebrant. Interment at St. Bernards Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Alzheimer's research.
