Mark T. Soisson, 90, Mechanicsburg, died Friday at Messiah Lifeways, Mechanicsburg.
He was born in Cresson, son of the late Joseph L. and Regina C. (Sloan) Soisson.
He is survived by daughters, Karen Christian of Mechanicsburg and Julie Chalk and husband, Tom, of Frederick, Md.; sons, Mike and wife, Jenny, of Cape St. Claire, Md., and Dave and wife, Anna, of New Market, Md.; grandchildren: Justin Christian and wife, Melissa, Michael and wife, Heather, all of Arnold, Md., Chris and Danny Soisson of Cape St. Claire, Md., Katie Soisson-McCarren and husband, Cole, of Annapolis, Md., Maya and Juliette Soisson of New Market, Md., Tommy Chalk of Las Vegas, Nev., and Nicholas Chalk of Frederick, Md.; great-grandchildren: Jordan and Chloe Christian, Michael III, Kinsley and Lucas Soisson, all of Arnold, Md. and Camille McCarren of Annapolis, Md.; a sister, Jeanne Vicini of Kenna, W.Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joline (Kirby) Soisson, whom he married on Sept. 7, 1957; brothers, Paul and Howard, a sister, Ann; and a son-in-law, Donald Hillman.
Mark was a graduate of Cresson Joint High School and Penn State University, where he obtained a
Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering. He was a licensed professional engineer in Maryland and Pennsylvania. He was employed by the Department of Defense at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in White Oak, Md. and later at Fort George G. Meade, Md., from which he retired in 1994 after 32 years of government service. After retirement, he took a part-time position as a consultant with Realty Engineering Inc. in Bowie, Md. He was a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Mechanicsburg.
He was an avid woodworker in his spare time and enjoyed making wooden toys at Christmas for his grandchildren, as well as designing and building clocks. He was a long-time volunteer baseball and basketball coach with the Boys and Girls Club in Laurel, Md.
Friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2025, at Anderson Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 233 Keystone Ave., Cresson. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2025, at St. Francis Xavier Church, Cresson, the Rev. Leo Arnone, celebrant. There will be a private burial at the church cemetery.
