Jerry W. Cherry

Jerry W. Cherry, 82, of Riggles Gap, died Tuesday evening at his home. He was born in Antis Township, son of the late Theodore Allen and Rachel Mae (Hollen) Cherry.

On March 25, 1964, he married Patricia A. Chatham in Winchester, Va.

Surviving are his wife, Patty; three sons: Michael T. (Suzanne Bigelow-Cherry), Kenneth B. and Stephen W. (Jill); seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and five siblings: James E., Alfred D., Cheryl Cherry, Debra Kahn and Sandra Sneath. He was preceded in death by his son, Scott A.; an infant sister, Janet; and a brother, Theodore Jr.

Jerry was a graduate of Central High School, where he participated in FFA and wrestling. He retired as an electrician with International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #5, where he was also a member of the union.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and all species of animals and birds, especially tending to deer in his later years. He was a hobby farmer who enjoyed his tractors and making hay. He was also a fan of wrestling and enjoyed listening to older, classic country music.

Friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025, at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home Inc., Bellwood. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor Dave Hersh officiating.

Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park, Antis Township.
