Francis L. ‘Frank’ Mangiacarne

Oct. 4, 1950 – Oct. 6, 2025

Francis L. "Frank" Mangiacarne, 75, of Altoona, passed away Monday morning at UPMC Altoona after a brief illness. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Elias and Elsie (Visocky) Mangiacarne.

Frank married A. Lucille Hooper on Dec. 27, 2015, at The Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament.

He is survived by his loving wife; a brother-in-law, James Seiler; his nephew, Michael Seiler; and his niece, Deanna Steele. Also surviving are his great-nieces and nephews: Conner Steele (Logan),

Collin Steele (Rachel), Amanda Zeak (Andy), Paige Callis (Jake), Bill Yoder (Tonia), Shawn Yoder (Carin), Jayson Yoder (Clara) and Erin Seiler (Mike); and his faithful pet dog, Harley.

Frank was preceded in death by his sister, Amelia Seiler.

He was a 1968 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School.

Frank was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and had 25 years of service with the U.S. Naval Reserves.

Frank retired as a welder and plumber from WATCO and had previously worked for Conrail at the Sam Rea shops in Hollidaysburg.

He was a member of The Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament.

Frank liked riding his Harley Davidson, working on cars, drag racing and hunting.

Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, at The Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, by Monsignor Stanley Carson.

Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
