Emogene Cross "Jessie" James, 100, of Altoona, died in the early hours of Oct. 8, 2025, at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Altoona. She was born in Corning, N.Y., a daughter of the late Harold Thomas and Ila Agnes (Andrews) Cross.
She married Kenneth M. James, who preceded her in death Jan. 7, 2002.
Surviving are three children: son, Donald James (Rose) in Alabama; daughter, Bonnie Spencer of Nelson; daughter, Constance George (Anthony) of Altoona; three grandchildren: Jason George (Ashley), Joey George and Jeff George (Kendra); eight great-grandchildren: Corey, Tanner, Landon, Kate, Zach, Brett (Megan) -- and their daughter, Finley -- Kellen and Loren.
Jessie was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Thomas Cross Jr.; and two sisters, Wilda Shield and Winnie Cross.
She retired as a secretary from Corning Glass following 65 years' service.
She enjoyed bowling, coloring, camping, crocheting and her service as a foster grandmother.
Jessie was a member of the Buccinese Society.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing or funeral service.
Arrangements are by Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona.
Interment will be made at Chapel Hill Cemetery, Corning, N.Y.
