Elizabeth A. ‘Betty’ Schimminger

Elizabeth A. “Betty” Schimminger, 91, of Altoona, died Monday morning at her residence, surrounded by her loving children. She was born in Altoona, the daughter of John M. and May F. (Shafer) Ronan.
Betty married John J. Schimminger on Oct. 1, 1955.
Betty was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church for nearly 70 years.
She dedicated her life to her faith, husband and children: Steven (Lisa) Schimminger, Paula (Michael) Dent, Mark (Catherine) Schimminger, Matthew Schimminger, Ann (Christopher) Olesnevich, Linda (Mark) Adams, Kurt Schimminger, Tess Snyder, Leigh (Shawn) Wesner and John (Nadia) Schimminger. Betty is also survived by 30 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents, John and May; and nine siblings: Vernon, John (Nancy) Ronan, Marian (Bernard) Smithmyer, Rita (Edward) Raichle, Dorothy (William) McCord, Helen (Joseph) Behe, William (Joan) Ronan, Michael (Anna) Ronan and Mary (Paul) Bottenfield.
Betty graciously and expertly hosted large family gatherings and created cherished memories for her children, grandchildren, neighbors and friends.
Friends and family will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., 108 Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon on Saturday, Oct.11, 2025, at Our Lady of Lourdes, 2617 Broad Ave., Altoona, with Father James Dugan officiating.
Burial will immediately follow at Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.
