Darrel L. Bathurst

Darrel L. Bathurst, 84, of Altoona, passed away early Sunday morning, Oct. 19, 2025, at Graystone Manor, Altoona. He was born in Altoona, a son of the late Walter and Adeline Bathurst.

Surviving are three children: daughter, Leslie Burkey (Jim); son, Timothy (Lori); and daughter, Crystal Himes (Dan); six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and dear friends: Dan and Noreen Greenleaf and Robert and Joanna Fultz.

Darrel was preceded in death by his wife, Linda R. Bathurst; four brothers: Phil, Greg, Jim and Kenneth Bathurst; and a dear friend, Louis J. Maierhofer.

Mr. Bathurst was a member of the former 12th Street United Methodist Church, Huntingdon, as well as the Presbyterian Church in Venice, Fla.

He was the owner of Central Distributors in Tyrone, retiring from there following 55 years' service.

Darrel was a member of Mountain Lodge #281, F & AM, Altoona; a member of Jaffa Shrine, where he belonged to the Jaffa Shrine Motor Corps, and was honored to serve as Potentate of Jaffa Shrine in 2008. He was a member of Altoona Court #70, Royal Order of Jesters and also belonged to the Jaffa Shrine Past Potentates Association.

He was a member of the Tyrone Elks, the Moose Lodge and Sahib Shrine, both in Venice, Fla.

Darrel loved spending time at his home in Florida and enjoyed fine dining.

Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, 2025, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, where a Masonic funeral service will be held at 7 p.m.; and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025, at the funeral home, where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., with Pastor Duane J. Coy officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in memory of Darrel, please be made to Jaffa Shrine Center, 220 Broad Ave., Altoona, PA 16601.
