W. Dale Holland, 69, Altoona, died Saturday at UPMC Altoona following an extended illness. He was born in Altoona, son of the late John and Evelyn (Blackie) Holland.
He married Jayne Condron on Jan. 22, 1982, in Altoona.
Surviving are his wife, Jayne; his son, Jeff Holland (Rebecca) of Altoona; and three brothers: Keith, Scott and Joe Holland, all of Altoona. He is also survived by his beloved pet dogs, Wesley and Brutus. He was preceded in death by a brother, Kevin Holland; and a sister Donna Molica.
Dale retired from Amtran as a bus driver with 42 years of service. He was a three-time Pa. state champion in the bus rodeo competition and had also gone on to compete in the national bus rodeo competition several times.
He was a lifetime member of the Amalgamated Transit Union, Local 801, where he was a past president.
Dale, known as "Chief," was active in the local softball leagues for many years as both a player and as a coach in women's softball. He enjoyed antique cars and motorcycles.
Friends will be received from 3-6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2025, at the Stevens Mortuary, 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 6 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Stevens
Mortuary, officiated by Rev. Charles Baughman. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park.
