Jan. 20, 1953 – Sept. 12, 2025

Zavalanski

Valentine "Butch" Zavalanski, 72, of Altoona, a native of Coupon, passed away Friday at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Valentine and Helen. (Carrig) Zavalanski.

His brother, Joseph, preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife of 35 years, the former Suzanne (Hetrick) Zavalanski; and daughter, Isabella, at home; a brother, Michael (Sharon) Zavalanski of Reedville, Va.; sisters, Nancy Ball of Duncansville and Robin (Joe) Chirdon of Altoona; sister-in-law, Marie "Tootsie" Zavalanski of Altoona; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Butch was the co-owner/operator of Image Signs Inc., Altoona, and a member of Juniata United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family -- especially his nephews -- having a few beers, baseball, playing pool, stock car racing, his pets and being his mischievous self, always joking around. He absolutely adored his daughter, who was the apple of his eye. Butch also enjoyed traveling with the love of his life, Suzie.

He will be deeply missed by the community and his family.

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15, 2025, at Gibbons-Houser Funeral Home Inc., 301 Church St., Gallitzin, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025, with the Rev. Bill Blair officiating.

Interment will be at East Ridge Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Butch's memory may be made to the American Heart Association or the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society.
