Ruth A. Nail, 80, Tyrone, passed away early Friday morning at her home. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Robert and Mabel (Zimmers) Guerin.
She married Edward Thomas Nail in 1964. He preceded her in death on Nov. 28, 2018.
Ruth is survived by four children: Edward T. Nail Jr. and wife, Meg, of Sinking Valley; Bob Nail and wife, Jean, in Illinois; Scott Nail and wife, Tamey, of Altoona; and Melissa Irvin and husband, Mark, in Florida; eight grandchildren: Cody, Samantha, Jessica, Julia, Wynter, Sabre, Blake and Perry; great-grandchildren: Savannah, Xavier and Braelynn; siblings: Polly, Doris and Jim; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved cat, Midnight.
She was preceded in death by siblings, Glenn and Sarah Jane.
Ruth worked as a teacher's aide for many years at Tyrone Area Elementary School. She also worked as a cook at Grier School and the Tyrone Hospital.
She enjoyed quilting, taking trips to the casino and collecting Beanie Babies.
Family and friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the noon funeral service Friday, Sept. 12, 2025, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., 719 N. Fourth Ave., Altoona, with the Rev. Ernie Walls and Todd Lewis officiating. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park.
