Mary Ann Gottshall

Mary Ann Gottshall, 92, Altoona, passed away Saturday at her home. She was born in Petoskey, Mich., daughter of the late Thomas and Bernice (Witroski) Malec.

On April 23, 1960, she married Edward R. Gottshall in Long Beach, Calif.

In addition to her husband of 65 years, she is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Melbinger, and husband, Timothy; a son, Jonathan Gottshall, and wife, Emily; grandchildren: Lydia, Toby and Harrison Gottshall and Allison and Nathan Melbinger; and siblings: Cynthia Hurt in Indiana, Judy Richardson in Michigan and Thomas Malec Jr. in Michigan. She is also survived by her beloved dog, Ella.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Julie; and a sister, Peggy.

Mary Ann was a 1954 graduate of Providence Hospital School of Nursing. She retired in 1992 from the UC Irvine Medical Center.

She was a member of St. Therese of the Child Jesus.

Mary Ann was a registered nurse, homemaker and sang in the church choirs and Hollidaysburg Community Chorus.

Family and friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, 2025, at St. Therese of the Child Jesus, 417 25th Ave., Altoona, where a funeral Mass will immediately follow at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Brian P. Norris officiating. Inurnment will be made at Greenwood Cemetery, Altoona.

Arrangements are by Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Altoona.
