Larry William Irvin Sr., 87, of Martinsburg, passed away Tuesday at The Village at Morrisons Cove. He was a son of the late
William and Mary (McGuire) Irvin.
On May 11, 1962, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Altoona, he was united in marriage to the former Catherine Ann (Stevens) Irvin.
Along with his wife of 63 years, he is survived by sons: Scott F. Irvin; Larry W. Irvin Jr., married to LuAnn; and Robert Irvin, married to Karen; grandchildren: Tara Cropsey, Christopher Irvin, Nicholas Irvin, Scott Irvin Jr., Katlin McClure, Benjamin Irvin, Piper Irvin and Brooklynn Irvin; and five great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Steve W. Irvin; and brother, Thomas E. Irvin.
Larry was a graduate of Altoona High School Class of 1955. He worked as a District Manager Customer Service Representative for Penelec.
Larry was a public servant. He served with honor as a past councilman on the Alexandria Borough Council and the Huntingdon County Planning Commission. He also served in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and gave his time generously to the Juniata Valley Lions Club, Huntingdon Rotary Club and the Alexandria Volunteer Fire Company.
He enjoyed traveling across the county, often visiting various United States National Parks, boating and teaching boating safety.
Friends and family will be received from 10 until the 11 a.m. Celebration of Life service Monday, Sept. 8, 2025, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., 108 Alto-Reste Park, Altoona, with Pastor Traci Marriott officiating.
Inurnment will take place privately at Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.
