Gertrude Ann Samhuber, 101, of North Port, Fla., formerly of Patton, passed away Sept. 10, 2025. She was born in Patton, the daughter of the late Adam and Minnie (Ziros) Smith.
Ann was twice married, first to George Blankenhorn on Nov. 8, 1947, and he preceded her in death on March 19, 1990. She was blessed to marry her second husband, Guenter Samhuber, on Aug. 15, 1994. He preceded her in death on July 6, 2020.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and leaves behind a stepdaughter, Mary Jackman; and several special nieces and nephews: Toni Petrunak, MaryAnn Horne, Joseph Lacue, Michele Bearer, Albert Lacue, Lothar Bauman and Michael Bauman. Ann is also survived by many dear friends in North Port, Fla.
Ann was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Myers and Doris Lacue.
She was a 1941 graduate of Patton High School and went on to graduate in 1944 from the Southside Hospital School of Nursing.
Ann retired on Oct. 31, 1981, from the Pa. Department of Revenue.
She loved watching football and hosting her friends for happy hour in her garage. Ann was a loving wife, aunt and wonderful friend and will be missed by all who knew her.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 907 Sixth Ave., Patton, PA 16668.
Committal was held at Fairview Cemetery, Patton.
