George Hunter Good
Nov. 11, 1948 – Sept. 6, 2025
George Hunter Good, 76, Altoona, passed into the arms of his Lord and
Savior on Saturday after an extended illness.
He was born in Altoona, son of George L. Good and Clara May Good (Peterson). On Nov. 6, 2007, he married Li Zeng and they enjoyed over 17 years of marriage together.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Evan Good (Denise); sisters: Carol Elswick (Ken), Lynn Schultz (Ken) and Chris McIntyre (John); grandchildren, Ashton and Juliana Good; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and his fluffy companion, Abby Bea Good.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, George L. Good II; a brother, Wag Good; and a niece, Lara Behrens.
George was a 1966 graduate of Altoona Area High School. He went on to serve in the U. S. Coast Guard as a Seaman Electrician’s Mate. After the Coast Guard, he spent his professional career in business. He was the president of Radio and Motor Service Inc., then served as president of Good Distributors Inc. He finished his career with over 40 years of helping the community through various positions at Alto-Reste Park.
George had a servant’s heart and was called to help others in everything that he did. He showed this through his membership in Jaffa Shrine, Logan Lodge 490 of Free Accepted Masons, Central PA National Guard and Veterans Association (past president), Blair County War Veterans Council (former senior VP), PA Cemetery Cremation & Funeral Association (past secretary), Marine Corps League and Marine Corps League Pistol and Rifle teams. He also volunteered at the Arc of Blair County and facilitated a grief support group for over 10 years that served over 500 community members dealing with the passing of a loved one. His passion for serving blessed the lives of countless people.
He enjoyed being on the boat at Lake Raystown, water skiing or just taking in the beauty of the lake, vacations to Cape May, traveling, skiing, hunting, gardening and fast cars. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
George held a deep and abiding respect for his grandfather, RP Good, and was honored to serve at Alto-Reste Park in his memory. He treasured his enduring friendship with Marty Lear, who was like an older brother and a steadfast partner in organizing Memorial Day services. Later in life, George was grateful for the renewed bond of brotherhood he shared with Wag, a connection that brought him great meaning and joy.
A public visitation will be held for George from 9 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2025, at The Good Funeral Home, Inc., Alto-Reste Park, Father Alan Thomas officiating. A graveside service with military honors will take place at Alto-Reste Park following the funeral service.
