Bernice A. Fields, 88, of Warriors Mark, passed away Wednesday at Penn Highlands, Tyrone. She was born in Port Matilda, the daughter of Frank D. and Vesta F. (Flick) Dixson.
She was twice married, first to David O. Gardner, who died in December 1996, and then to Glenn W. Fields, who died in July 2008.
She is survived by sons: David and wife, Vanessa Gardner, of Tyrone; Brian and wife, Mary Gardner, of Tyrone; and Dennis and wife, Theresa Fields, of Warriors Mark; grandchildren: Jennifer Vance, Kimberly Gardner, DeNeige Gardner and James Dale Gardner; step-grandchildren, Debra Sagastume and James Weaver; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Melvin and Raymond Dixson; sisters: June Fultz, Dewella Williams and Beulah Dixson; and a son, James Dale Gardner.
She attended Port Matilda High School, and was employed by Jostin's Printing and later by Gardner's Candies, from which she retired.
She was a member of Warriors Mark Methodist Church and enjoyed bluegrass music and gardening. She was the best mom and cook ever.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29, 2025, at Bruce E. Cox Funeral Home, 3784 Warriors Mark Path, Warriors Mark.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., at the funeral home, with Pastor Ron Baker officiating. Interment will follow at Burket Cemetery.
