Arlene F. Roessing, 85, formerly of Altoona, died Saturday evening at Cedarwood Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Tyrone. She was born in Altoona, a daughter of the late Clarence and Matilda “Tilly” (Parson) Leonard.
She married Robert John Roessing on May 7, 1960, in Altoona. He preceded her in death June 11, 2014.
Surviving are four children: daughter, Tammy Bolig (Charles) of Malvern; son, Robert Roessing Jr. (Nancy) of Fallentimber; daughter, Kelly Grassmyer (Kevin) of Altoona; daughter, Jennifer Shehan (Travis) of Altoona; five grandchildren: Jessica, Jennifer, Tristan, Brady and Emily; and a sister, Betty Dively, of Altoona.
Arlene was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Caramadre.
Mrs. Roessing was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Juniata.
She was a 1957 graduate of Altoona High School.
Arlene retired from the maintenance department of the Altoona Area School District following service at both Penn-Lincoln Elementary School and the former Roosevelt Junior High School.
She enjoyed reading and gardening, but she especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Sept. 18, 2025, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at noon with the Rev. Eli Hess officiating.
