Dec. 31, 1942 – Aug. 6, 2025

Martin

Sandra Lee "Sandy" Martin, 82, of Penn Hills, passed away Wednesday. She was born in Altoona, and grew up in Juniata.

Sandy's first job was at Bell Telephone, where she worked for a decade. She also worked for many years as an aide in the pre-school at Trinity Tower United Methodist Church, where she was a longtime member and played in the hand bell choir.

Christmas was her favorite time of year, and her Hallmark ornaments were part of a prized collection. Ornaments were not her only collection; she also collected figurines of her favorite character, Dopey, one of the seven dwarfs. Never one to be idle, she was very crafty, enjoying crocheting blankets and towels for her family. The absolute lights of her life were her grandchildren, leaving teaching to become a full-time sitter. They were her pride and joy.

Sandy was the beloved wife of George E. "Ed" Martin for 59 years; mother of Michele (Michael) Traficante and Kelly (Eric) Schultz; adoring grandmother of Kailee and Emily Traficante, Jarrod (Alexis) and Melanie Schultz; and sister of Linda (Bill) Rinaldi. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Friday, Aug. 8, 2025, at Soxman Funeral Homes Ltd./Roth Chapel, 7450 Saltsburg Road (at Universal Road), Penn Hills.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, 2025, at the funeral home. Interment in Plum Creek Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Tower United Methodist Church, 6729 Saltsburg Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15235.

Starting at /week.
