Sally A. Keefer

July 11, 1943 – Aug. 14, 2025

Sally A. Keefer, 82, of Harrisburg, peacefully passed away on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2025, at Hershey Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 11, 1943, in Hollidaysburg, a daughter of the late John and Gladys (Walter) Ellenberger and she was united in marriage to Robert L. Keefer for 53 years.

Along with her husband, she is survived by children: Denise Maselli and husband, John; ConnieLantz and husband, Robert; Kevin Keefer and partner, Brian Chubb; and Lonna Chamblee and husband, Steven; as well as eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and countless, loving friends.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Shawn Keefer; granddaughter, Shannon Duffey; and sisters: Leah Wertz, Pauline Gentry and Joan Johnson.

Sally was a graduate of the Hollidaysburg Area High School Class of 1961 and remained very active with the alumni and reunion committee. After high school, she attended Pronto's Beauty School, where she became a beauty instructor and went on to open her own salon. Sally also worked as a Sgt. Shift Commander for the Blair County Prison, retiring in 2003 after 21 years of service.

She was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary Post No. 724. She was very active in supporting Vietnam veterans and, along with her husband, attended numerous annual reunions nationwide. She was of the Lutheran faith and enjoyed quilting, sewing, scrapbooking, traveling, cooking and family gatherings. She was an avid Penn State and Pittsburgh Steelers football fan and attended many games over the years.

A special thank you to the compassionate, caring staff at Hershey Medical Center and Hospice of Central Pennsylvania for the love, support and dignity provided to Sally in her final days. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Central Pennsylvania or your local humane society.

Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2025, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., 108 Alto-Reste Park, Altoona, from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2025, at noon at The Good Funeral Home Inc., with Pastor James Neatrour officiating. Burial will be held at Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.
