Larry Eugene Zong, 92, of East Freedom, passed away Sunday at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Boalsburg, a son of the late Glenn and Vivian (Johnsonbaugh) Zong.
He was united in marriage to the former Laura (Ellis) Zong.
Along with his wife, he is survived by children: Larry, Leah, Sally, Penny, Janice, Sharon, Beth, Danny, Jennifer, Laurie and Craig; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, “Lambie.”
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Alan Zong; and brother, Dean Zong.
Larry was a graduate of State College High School, Class of 1950. After graduation, he went on to serve in The United States Air Force, serving from 1951-55 during the Korean War.
After returning from the service, Larry worked for Conrail as a supervisor until his retirement in 1989. In his retirement, he began a second career with Martins Pharmacy, where he delivered medication to area residents.
Larry was a member of the American Legion as well as the Canoe Creek Memorial Methodist Church.
He had a knack for coin collecting, tinkering with mechanical gadgets and enjoyed attending various flea markets.
The family wishes to sincerely thank AseraCare Hospice for providing Larry with incredible care.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2025, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., 108 Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.
Full Military Honors will be rendered by The Blair County Veterans Honor Guard and The United States Air Force.
Burial will be held privately at Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.
