Guy A. "Chew" Ratchford, 92, of Hollidaysburg, passed away Friday in New Castle. He was born in Gallitzin, son of the late Leo and Mary (Troxell) Ratchford.
He married Annette Bookwalter in 1952. She preceded him in death in 2008 after sharing 56 years of marriage.
Surviving are his daughter, Debra Kilmore, and husband, Tim, of New Castle; a son, James "Bud," and wife, Sandy, of Lakemont; two grandchildren, Ginger Ponziani and husband, Mike, and Jason Ratchford and wife, Katlyn; seven great-grandchildren: Mikey, Gianna, Gabe, Melena, Haley, Alonna and Kinsley; and two great-great-grandchildren, Nylah and Wesley.
He was preceded in death by his siblings.
Chew was a graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and served in the U.S. Army.
He retired from McLanahan Corporation after 40-plus years.
Chew was a member of the Hollidaysburg Alumni Band.
He enjoyed plumbing, bowling, and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Friends were received from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025; and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2025, at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 11 a.m.
Interment will be held at Alto-Reste Park.
