Ed moved to Roaring Spring in 1979. He and his wife, Carolyne, served the community by running Toys For Tots, Food Bank and Salvation Army from their living room for many years.

When you say the name Ed Franks in Blair County, you will hear of all his memberships and involvements, including the Blair County Allied Firemen’s Association, fire departments, EMS, fire police, Tour de’Toona, Altoona Curve and Sheriff. Most importantly, he was a PA State Constable and was currently serving in Roaring Spring.

Ed loved law enforcement, baseball, watching the rodeo, horse racing, Steelers, Pirates, NASCAR (Jeff Gordon #24) and of course the Altoona Curve (Let’s Go Curve!!!!). Ed loved to listen to ’60s country music and sang to anyone any chance he got.

He was a true patriarch of his family and loved every single one. He enjoyed company from all walks of life and would help anyone. Sharing all his knowledge was important to him.
