Donna L. Hankinson, 87, of Altoona, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday. She was born in Altoona, the only child of the late Geroge Harry and Louise (Gregg) Alcott.
She married Richard Thomas Hankinson on June 20, 1959, at South Altoona Baptist Church, with Pastor Art Scott officiating. Dick preceded her in death in 2011 after 52 years of marriage.
Donna was a 1956 graduate of Altoona High School and a 1973 graduate of Pennsylvania State University, receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education. In 1983, she received her master's degree in elementary education. She retired as a first grade teacher with Bellwood-Antis School District.
She was a member of Faith Baptist Church, formerly The South Altoona Baptist Chapel.
Donna and her husband enjoyed the adventures of traveling across more than 50 countries and the expanded learning it provided. She continued solo after Dick's passing, touring another five countries. Donna found solace in drawing and painting after retirement.
Friends and family will be received from 10 until the 11 a.m. service Monday, Aug. 18, 2025, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., 108 Alto-Reste Park, Altoona, with Pastor Gary Dull officiating.
Burial will be held privately at Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.
If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, Donna would like you to read a book to a child.
