Willis L. "Butch" "Willie" Stephens, 85, of Hollidaysburg, passed away Tuesday at The Celebration Villa of Altoona. He was born in Titusville, a son of the late George and Bertha (Eakin) Stephens.
He was united in marriage to the former Susan (Harger) Stephens in 1968.
Along with his wife, Susan, he is survived by children: Rae Jean Catrabone, married to Mark, of Erie; Douglas Stephens, married to Lorraine, of Hollidaysburg; and Teri Myers, married to Joel, of Altoona; grandchildren: Logan Catrabone, Adrienne Catrabone, Reed Catrabone, Jacob Stephens, Marian Stephens, Ruth Stephens and Simon Stephens; and countless beloved nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings: Darryl Stephens, Alberta "Bert" Ricke, George "Bud" Stephens, Loretta "Elaine" Davenport, Raymond Holtz, George "Jock" Holtz, Henrietta "Hank" Williams, Lena Sultz, Clifford Stephens and Dixie Edwards. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Willis was a graduate of Titusville High School, Class of 1957.
As a lifelong entrepreneur and real estate broker, Willis built a life centered around hard work and caring for others. He was a member of the Providence Presbyterian Church in Altoona and formerly served as Elder and Deacon at First Presbyterian Church in Titusville.
His commitment to serve others was reflected in his roles as Past Master of Titusville Lodge #754, where he was a 3rd degree Mason, Past President of Zem Zem Shriners, Titusville Rotary Club and the Hydetown Business Association. He was proud of being a Paul Harris Fellow Award recipient.
He was a member of the Elk and Moose Lodges as well as The Heidelberg Country Club and Duncansville VFW.
In his free, time he could be found woodworking -- or, as he called it, "puttering" -- enjoying country music, collecting peculiar antiquities and attending yard sales. Willie's favorite hobby was people. He was known to be a man who would help anyone with a problem and could make a lifelong friend in the time it took to drink a single beer.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather whose children and grandchildren were the pride of his life.
Friends and family will be received from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2025, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., 108 Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.
A Masonic Service will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2025, at the funeral home.
Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family will be held at Alto-Reste Park.
If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Willis to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Erie, c/o Jaffa Shriners, 2200 Broad Ave., Altoona PA 16601.
