Wayne L. Piper, formerly of Altoona, transitioned peacefully on April 15, 2025, at his residence in San Antonio, Texas.
Surviving are his three children: Gloria Piper, Dwayne Piper and Marques Piper, all of San Antonio, Texas; two siblings, Cynthia (Piper) Mercado of Upper Marlboro, Md., and Mary Piper of Pittsburgh; seven grandchildren; and other beloved family members.
Wayne was a 1974 graduate of Altoona Area High School. He served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force and retired from CPS Energy in 2020. He earned a Bachelor of Science in 1990 and a Master of Arts degree in human resources development in 2002.
Friends will be received from noon until the 1 p.m. memorial service Saturday, July 26, 2025, at The Stevens Mortuary, 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona. Interment will be at Logan
Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
