Vernon L. "Butch" Diggins Jr., 77, of Altoona, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Monday evening at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Altoona, a son of the late Vernon L. Sr. and Dorthea E. "Dot" (Wiseman) Diggins.
He married Lois E. Urbanek.
Surviving are his wife, Lois; a son, Vernon L. "Butchie" Diggins III (Stephanie); a granddaughter, Danielle Brown (Kyle), and their daughter, Kinley; and a sister, Mary Ada.
Butch was preceded in death by an infant son, David Stuart Diggins; and a sister, Patricia.
He was a 1967 graduate of Altoona High School.
Butch retired as a mechanic from Stuckey Auto. He also had been employed by Rabits Exxon.
He was an avid trap shooting enthusiast. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Butch loved spending time with his granddaughter and great-granddaughter.
Friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, where a Celebration of Life will be held at 6 p.m., with Pastor Phil Waite officiating.
