S. Evelyn Hetrick, 95, Williamsburg, went home to be with the Lord peacefully Saturday morning. She was born in Bedford, daughter of the late Conda and Estella "Stella" (Wilson) Casteel.
On June 19, 1949, she married Ernest D. Hetrick at the Williamsburg Church of the Brethren.
Surviving are her four sons: Ernest C. "Bud" of Williamsburg, Barry L. and wife, Karen, of Hollidaysburg, Brian E. and wife, Debbie, of Gettysburg and Bradley A. and wife, Sue, of Williamsburg; a daughter, Lisa A. Meadows, and husband, Brad, of Hollidaysburg; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernie; her parents; six brothers; four sisters; a daughter-in-law, Diana Hetrick; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Evelyn was a 1949 graduate of Roaring Spring High School. After graduation, she dedicated her life to creating a warm and nurturing home for her husband of 64 years, Ernie, and their five children. Evelyn's greatest joy came from spending time with her family and friends and fostering a loving environment for everyone in her presence. She enjoyed making her chocolate chip cookies, tea and pies. She was a lifetime member of Williamsburg Church of the Brethren.
Friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Williamsburg Church of the Brethren, where a funeral service will begin at 6 p.m., Pastor Alan Brumbaugh and Pastor Allen Baker Jr. officiating. Private interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
The family prefers that memorial contributions be given to Williamsburg Church of the Brethren, 529 W. Third St., Williamsburg, PA 16693; or the Williamsburg Vol. Fire Company, 305 E. Second St., Williamsburg, PA 16693.
