Rodger K. Hammond

Sept. 10, 1936 – July 5, 2025

Rodger K. Hammond, 88, Duncansville, passed away Saturday at Celebration Villa, Altoona.

He was born in Johnstown, son of the late Kenneth and Theda (Mangus) Hammond. On June 25, 1960, he was united in marriage to the former Sally (Graham) Hammond.

He was the devoted father of Scott Hammond and Kristen Damico, married to Ed; and proud of his grandchildren, Anthony Damico and Sydney Damico. Rodger is also survived by his sister, Karen Crawford.

He was a 1954 graduate of Westmont Upper Yoder High School. He worked for Leechburg School District for twelve years as an industrial arts instructor. While at Leechburg, he started a track and field program, which he ran for ten years. Later, he moved to Hollidaysburg, where he spent 23 years as a high school guidance counselor. He served as elder and deacon for United Presbyterian Church in Leechburg and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Hollidaysburg. He was also a member of Juniata Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons and a proud Jaffa Shriner, where he was a member of the Cycle Corps. and Roadrunners. He was also a member of Blair County Chapter of Retired Teachers.

Rodger enjoyed golfing, traveling and rooting for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers and Penguins.

Friends will be received from 1 until the 3 p.m. funeral service Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., 108 Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.
