Patrick W. Mulligan

Feb. 3, 1956 – July 12, 2025

Patrick W. Mulligan, 69, Nicktown, passed away Saturday. He was born in Spangler, son of Patrick L. and Bernetta (Kritzer) Mulligan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant brother.

Surviving are sisters, Sr. Donna Mulligan S.C. of Connellsville and Connie Mulligan of Arendtsville.

Growing up in the community of Nicktown, Patrick was raised by loving parents, who guided him with a strong faith and knowing the importance of service to others. “Buddy” was a 1974 graduate of Bishop Carroll High School, Ebensburg, and a 1976 graduate of Penn State with an associate’s degree in electrical engineering technology, becoming a self-employed electrician.

An active member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church for many years, he donated countless hours to the construction of the St. Nicholas Church Hall. As an original founding member of Nicktown Fire Company, he was a lifetime member and volunteered his talents in the construction of the new firehall.

Patrick’s caring nature compelled him to do more for others, and he trained in the field of emergency medical care to become one of northern Cambria County’s first paramedics. He worked with the Hastings Area Ambulance Association, as well as Veteran’s Memorial and John Carroll Ambulance services for many years. He later took a position at Miners Hospital as a full-time paramedic. He also taught many people the important skills of CPR and first aid as a Red Cross certified instructor.

He was a member of the Central District and Cambria County Firemen’s Associations. A part of many other civic organizations, Pat was also a life member of Hastings Fire Co., Hastings Moose, Carrolltown Fireman’s Club and social member of Carrolltown Legion.

Having life-long friends from his years at Penn State, he was a member of First East Fraternity, Penn State Altoona and one of the founding members of the Central District Campers Association.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Moriconi Funeral Home Inc., 1303 Bigler Ave., Northern Cambria.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2025, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, with Father Jeremiah Lange OSB Ph.D., celebrant. Committal will be at St. Nicholas Cemetery.

In memory of Patrick, the family suggests donations to Bishop Carroll Catholic High School or Nicktown Fire Company.
