Pastor Harry J. Spaeth

1931 – 2025

Pastor Harry J. Spaeth, 93, a resident of Homewood at Martinsburg, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, Roaring Spring. He was born in Philadelphia. In 1956, he married the love of his life, Ada (Rosenberger), in Quakertown.

Surviving are his wife of 69 years; children: Dr. Joseph H. Spaeth and wife, Karyn, in Minnesota; and Andrew N. Spaeth of Hollidaysburg; and a large extended family.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Smucker, in Missouri; and six sisters: Edna Spaeth, Thelma Curry, Emma Linkchorst, Anna Mae Graham, Doris Ward and Lois Modes.

Harry retired as the pastor of Hollidaysburg Church of the Brethren after having served churches in rural North Carolina, Chicago and Nappanee, Ind.

Harry was an accomplished accordion player frequently giving concerts at Homewood and a personal one for Ada most every night for decades. But he was best known for his love — for life, his neighbor, his family and his everything, Ada.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, 2025, at Bice Memorial Chapel at Homewood.
